One star only because I received the wrong item. The jacket I received did not have the hinge system as described and pictured. Instead there were four corner straps. Returning for refund and will order another.

I was really looking forward to getting this item. First, it took longer than most Amazon items take to be delivered. Then- and most importantly- it is way too small for the Kindle 2! The Kindle is about 1/4 of an inch longer than the case so there is no way it will fit. I gave it a star because apparently I can’t give it less in order to write the review! A real shame, for I really wanted this to work.

I purchased a used red leather M-Edge Prodigy and was disappointed to find that my Kindle 2 does not fit into the corner leather straps to hold it in place because the jacket is too short. Hard to believe that this is an approved product.

I picked up both the Amazon Kindle 2 cover then picked up this M-Edge Prodigy one. Both are light weight and have hinges that secure Kindle 2 into the cover. Ups and Downs of both: M-Edge Prodigy Hinge Jacket for 2nd Generation Kindle (Genuine Leather–Marbled Red)

~~ M-Edge Prodigy: I love this one. This one has straps that secure outer edge to cover which prevents you from accidentally opening from back cover. (Opening from wrong cover results in cracking the hinges and possibly the back of your Kindle). It has a little pocket in front and fits a few pieces of paper, flat calculator, and business cards. Roomy inner edge permits you to fold front cover all the way back when reading and you could clip a pen into it. Approx 1 inch in width which is minimally larger than Amazon’s cover which is 7/8 inch. The latch keeps the cover closed and has prevented purse items from slipping between cover and Kindle screen. I have had this cover for 6 months and it works great. M-Edge offers this cover in a variety of colors and plain or marbled, I picked plain red (not marbled red). As with any softer leather item when it rests against a harder item it retains an impressions but mine still looks classy and professional. The red one is easy to find in purse, laptop bag, or if you set it down on a surface around house (which never happens
~~ Amazon cover: Perfect for my friend. It is light weight, sleek, and simple cover which is great for around the house use but needs extra precaution when using it outside the home. It does not have a latch therefore, when in purse, coins and unwanted material easily slid between screen and cover. My friend uses hers mostly around the house and she has a divider in her purse strictly for the Kindle to prevent purse items from getting against the screen and unwanted areas. The intense solvent smell does go away when opened and aired out for 1-2 weeks. The Amazon cover offers enough protection for her and she labeled her front cover to prevent her from opening wrong cover and cracking the Kindle 2 hinge. I think Amazon has put logo on front cover since my purchase.

I have had my M-edge Prodigy Hinge Jacket for K2 in Marbled Red Leather since March. It is a beautiful red leather case with a soft, protective, grey interior. It is padded and has a strap to hold the case shut while in purse or briefcase or backpack. The hinge system holds the kindle very securely in place and has additional corner straps on the right hand side…just to be extra secure. Your kindle is definitely not slipping out of this case if properly used!!! There are also interior pockets and space for a reading light. The red leather has to be seen to be appreciated;it’s gorgeous.
I really thought I had reviewed this item back when I received it. Either I was wrong about that, or not all reviews are posted…..the latter makes no sense.
